Employee Spotlight – Summer Cox

In celebration of National Caregiver's Day, we are honored to share an Employee Spotlight on one of our Certified Nursing Assistants, Summer Cox.  Summer was one of the very first members of our care team since opening in November 2019.  From the very start, Summer has embodied the spirit of our building and goes above and beyond every day for our community.

Summer Cox & Ms. Wrenn

Summer is from Walterboro, SC and was raised in Sarasota, FL.  Growing up, Summer always loved taking care of people.  After watching her sister thrive in this industry, she decided to begin her journey as a caregiver.  After completing her certification to become a C.N.A. in 2014, she started her career in senior living.  She has previously worked at the Veteran's Victory House and at Bishop Gadsden before joining our team at Indigo Hall.

While working full-time providing care for our residents, Summer also has interests in cosmetology and will test for her full license soon.  She relates doing hair to caregiving by saying, "I still get to take care of people when I do their hair and makeup. I love caring for others."  If working full-time and studying for her cosmetology licensing wasn't enough, Summer also is enrolled at Trident Technical College for nursing.  She aspires to continue her education for future opportunities in senior living including potentially an administrative role one day.

Summer loves being a part of the innovations at Indigo Hall.  She enjoys the sense of family between all who come through our doors.  Summer says, "Residents, staff, and guests are so grateful for the services we provide here. I am so happy to work under the direction of Kim and help make a difference in our community."  In her free time, Summer loves spending time with her dog Scrappy, doing hair, and eating seafood.

Our residents love Summer's bright energy every morning.  When asked about Summer, a resident stated, "She's a good one. I love that Summer is always smiling."  Our Director of Nursing, Kim Bonner boasts, "Our residents and their families are lucky to have such a dedicated caregiver like Summer.  She is compassionate, attentive, and an all-around wonderful person."

Thank you to our entire team at Indigo Hall for providing care for our residents.  We are all caregivers in different ways and we are so thankful for the opportunity to care for others.
